No matter how many times I changed the time zone to "Los Angeles", PureOS would always return to Paris time after a reboot. The fix for me was to install "ntpdate" a small command line program available in the Debian (squeeze) repo. Set your timezone in System Settings/Time and Date, then run "ntpdate-debian" as root. Your local time should stick after a reboot. Works for me!
